We are lucky to attract talented individuals who forge fantastic careers doing amazing things to speak at our conference, and this next speaker is no exception, as we welcome Doctor, Paraveterinarian, Pilot and Sportsman Rudie van Vuuren to the stage!
Rudie’s passion for conservation medicine, and together with his wife and leading conservationist Marlice van Vuuren, they established the N/a’an ku sê Lodge and Wildlife Sanctuary with the objective of treating humans, wildlife and the environment.
Rudie is also a history maker, becoming the first(and so far only) man to represent his country in two different sport codes at World Cups, as he participated in the 2003 Cricket and Rugby World Cups.
You’ll find Rudie in the Biosphere on our Expedition and Wilderness Medicine day, discussing his career (as a conservation medic, not a sporting star), and the work of the N/a’an ku se Foundation. Over the last 13 years, the team, consisting of doctors, veterinarians, ecologists and biologists have been working to mitigate human-wildlife contact, conserve landscapes and provide essential healthcare.
