Trevor’s prehospital career started in 1988 as a military combat medic. After completion of his military service he qualified as an advanced life support paramedic in Johannesburg South Africa.
After qualifying, Trevor worked as a medic onboard diving support vessels in the North Sea and the Gulf. After returning to South Africa, Trevor spent many of his operational years working as a flight paramedic on a dual platform, medical retrieval rescue helicopter service in busy trauma centres in South Africa.
Trevor has been involved in medical special operations since 2000 and has deployed to earthquakes in Algeria, Iran, Pakistan, Indonesia and New Zealand and also deployed to Hurricane Katrina. In December 2004 he resigned as the Chief Operating Officer of what was then South Africa’s largest private EMS service to embark on a career as an international consultant. He has since has worked as a consultant to the UN International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) and served as the Chairman of the INSARAG Medical Working Group (MWG) from its inception in 2008 until February 2014. He stills serves on the MWG.
Trevor holds an MSc in Emergency Medicine is currently the owner and managing director of a UK based company, DART Solutions, which specialises in providing disaster and emergency management services and solutions. Trevor is still a passionate and clinically active paramedic and teaches confined space emergency care having delivered training programme in numerous countries in the Middle East and China.
