Andrew Beckingham is the Humanitarian Nutrition Adviser at Save the Children based in London. Before his current role he has worked with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Most recently he was working in Yemen as a Hospital Director for MSF in a large specialist Maternity and Child Health hospital and set up an emergency field hospital during the recent cholera outbreak. He has also worked in countries such as South Sudan, Pakistan and Nepal.
Andrew is a qualified Paediatric nurse qualifying in 2007 with an acute care background in paediatric intensive care and scrub nursing in invasive cardiology. He has held various clinical roles including charge nurse within a large tertiary cardiac referral centre in London where he maintains his clinical practice.
Andrew has a specialist interest in malnutrition in crisis and as a diploma in tropical nursing and a master’s in public health with a focus on Severe Acute Malnutrition both from London School of hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). He has also taught at LSHTM on the Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Health in East Africa course.
