Allen Lewis, EFO, CFO, CEMSO, CEM, MIFireE, MPA, NRP, is the Fire Chief/Emergency Manager of the Virginia Fire Department in Virginia, Minnesota. Chief Lewis is a 2020 Bush Foundation Fellow and an adjunct professor in the College of Safety and Emergency Services at Columbia Southern University where he teaches courses in Leadership, Finance, Operations and Personnel Management, Risk Management, Emergency Medical Communications, Public Information and Community Relations, and Community Risk Reduction. Chief Lewis serves on the IAFC’s Program Planning Committee, St. Louis County 9-1-1 User Board, St. Louis County Fire Chiefs’ Association, Northeast Regional Emergency Communication Board, Minnesota State Fire Chiefs’ Association Legislative & EMS Committees, and the regional Mental Health Task Force.
As a well-traveled international instructor and consultant in the fire service and EMS profession, he has traveled to 97 countries and has trained emergency service personnel in Afghanistan, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Iraq, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Allen’s mission includes building leadership potential in developing countries along with a tireless effort to encourage communication, cooperation, and consolidation of emergency service organisations.
